Who We Work With

Are You Our Kind of Crazy?

So, what kind of VW owners devote thousands of dollars and more than a year to end up with a brand new 40-70 year old classic Volkswagen? When you put it like that, it almost sounds strange. But as we often say, “Those folks are our kind of weird.”

How would you recognize an Airkooled Kustoms client?

VW Bus Restoration
Can you spot a classic car restoration client? Well, their rides are the first clue, of course. They’ll be the first to pop the deck lid to show off their engines. Then they’ll give you the grand tour complete with a description of all the customizations we did. They might even show you their Airkooled Kustoms sticker. Best of all, they’ll tell you the story of how they came to own their vehicle. If you’ve been a VERY good boy or girl, they may even open the door and let you sit in the driver’s seat for just a minute.
Classic VW Owners

They’re all hippies, right?

Some people have this odd conception that classic Volkswagen and Porsche drivers and enthusiasts are all long-haired, bushy-bearded, dope-smoking throwbacks, flower children reliving their glory days. Actually, we have had clients fitting that description pretty closely, and you’ll sure see some people like that at the car shows.

But the majority of our classic car restoration clients might surprise you. Think engineers, military officers, defense contractors, and young retirees, and you’d be more on-target about who the typical Airkooled Kustoms client is. Remember, this is not an inexpensive project to undertake.

Here’s how you know if you’re our kind of volks…

Some of our classic car restoration clients know the exact specs of the classic Porsche or VW they want. Sometimes it’s down to a level of detail that shows they’ve been thinking and dreaming of this Porsche, Beetle, VW bus, Karmann Ghia, Notchback, or Fastback for years – maybe even decades. Most of them, though, just know extremely high-quality when they see it.
They have a classic car that means something to them – something deeply personal, in most cases. They’ve dreamt of restoring their Dub for a while, maybe even tried to work on it a bit themselves. They entrust this vehicle to our care, seeking our advice at each fork in the decision-making process, knowing we understand what will work best for their restoration project.

Maybe that’s you?

Maybe you’ve seen us at classic car shows, which of course means you’ve seen the krew in kilts (and apparently we didn’t scare you off – even when Spook forgets himself and squats down to get a closer look at one of the show cars!). Or, maybe you’ve been following us on YouTube, Facebook, or Twitter for a while. Maybe you read a write-up about one of our builds in one of the classic Volkswagen or Porsche enthusiast magazines.

Or, as sometimes happens, you were just driving through Hazel Green, Alabama one day and saw the shop sign on Guy Wilson Road and decided to come in to see what we do here.

Let's bring that classic Porsche or Volkswagen of your dreams to life.

Whatever brought you into our orbit, we’re glad you’re here. If you’re looking at VW restoration shops, even better.

If you’re ready to drive the classic car or bus of your dreams, or your memories, take the next step. Contact us for a little chat.

It’s important for us to be a good match. That’s because we’ll be working together for a good year or more, and your financial investment will be substantial.

The best way to know for sure whether you should be Airkooled Kustoms’ next classic VW or Porsche restoration client is to have a conversation with a guy who's going to make sure you go into this with your eyes wide open.
